Chicago "39" keeps the competition lively!

Chicago "39" is a format that takes players' handicaps into account to balance the competition while keeping the round interesting because each hole is an opportunity to win points. Though some play with no penalty for blow-ups, this year the tournament committee wisely docked 1pt. for triple bogey or worse. That kept us working hard even to save double bogey!

Congratulations to our top tier winners: Corey Peterson +4, Jim Walt +4, Ron Lindsay +3, Don Schwartz +3 and Steve Olsen +1.

Interclub Teamplay Gets Off to a Good Start

The ASMC Thursday team made one of our best starts in recent years, beating Palo Alto at Seascape, 27-9. The pairs of Bobby Sayous and Gary Nelson, Jim Geesman and Gary Paul, and Breese White and Danny Braga all came through with all six points out of six! In addition, Bobby shot a 71, Gary a 72, Brad Ryno a 73 and Mike Oliver a 77.

We lost our away match at Poplar Creek 25 to 11. We will be playing at home on July 16th against Crystal Springs, away at Crystal Springs on July 23rd, away at Palo Alto on July 30th, and at home against Poplar Creek on August 13th. If we manage to win or tie one of our away matches and win both of our remaining home matches, we might be able to go to the playoff rounds.

If you didn't sign up initially but enjoy match play and want to help us get to the playoffs, please contact me at (831) 688-4472 or at davidlwebb@cruzio.com.

ASMC 2015 Blind Draw Team Event

The ASMC Blind Draw event divides all the players into 4 groups based on handicap. Each team is made up of one player from each group, randomly selected. All players on the team drive off each tee, the best drive is selected, and all 4 players play in from the selected drive. The team must use at least 3 drives from each member of the foursome. The 2 lowest net scores are  recorded on each hole. The round is dynamic and everyone contributes.

This year's event produced outstanding results with the top 8 teams all within 5 strokes of each other. Congratulations to the winning team: Teddy Kosciolek, Gerry Catalano, Bill Daitchman and Richard Lakely who turned in a blistering 111. Three teams tied with 113 and positions 2 thru 4 were awarded based on their back 9 totals. 2nd place went to Bobby Sayous, Matt Kluger, Gary Lovell and Dennis Dalman. Bruce Driggs, Don Urfer, Williamd Duquette and  Jay O'Gorman took 3rd place and 4th went to John Watson, Danny Braga, Craig Matthews and Glenn Taylor. Prizes went to the top 8 positions.
